Kashere Varsity confers honorary degree on Rep. Abubakar Bichi

  1. The Federal University, Kashere, Gombe state, has conferred an honorary degree on Honorable Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, member representing Bichi Federal Constituency.

Rep. Bichi, who doubles as Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation would be decorated with the degree at the university’s convocation ceremony, today.

The degree will be the second to be conferred on the lawmaker, as the Federal University Dutsin-ma, Katsina state had earlier awarded similar degree to Rep. Bichi for his outstanding contributions in the engineering profession.

These awards did not come as surprise as the lawmaker is known for his commitment to the development of the education sub-sector in his home town, Kano state and Nigeria as a whole.

Abubakar has sponsored quite a number of Bichi indigene students from the less privileged families to further their studies, both within and outside the country.

The lawmaker has distinguished himself among his peers as a genuine education ambassador through execution of various projects programs aimed at uplifting the standard of education in his constituency even before he become a member in the Green Chamber.

For instance, Rep. Bichi has built and renovated several primary and secondary schools across many rural communities in his constituency in his efforts to improve the standard of education at the basic level.

Not only provisions of the structures, Rep. Bichi had also provided teaching and learning materials such as tables, chairs and text books to several basic schools in many communities in Bichi constituency.

This is in addition to the consistent payment of registration fees for the National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Council (WAEC) and other related examinations for thousands of young constituents that cannot afford it.

Beyond basic education, Rep. Bichi has been sponsoring thousands indigenes of Bichi studying in various universities across the country.

His scholarship did not stop within Nigeria, as the lawmaker has sponsored scores of constituents to abroad to study their degrees in various fields of their choice.

Under his scholarship scheme, a total of 21 Bichi indigene students are currently studying various degrees in engineering and information technology in a Malasian University, while another set of beneficiaries are being prepared to start theirs.

Besides scholarship, Rep. Bichi had facilitated interventions to several higher institutions of learning within and outside his constituency for the purpose of improving the standard of education.

Notable among such interventions is the Multi-Million Naira Ring-road project at the famous Northwest University, Kano, construction of hostels and lecture halls at the Federal University Dutsin-ma, Katsina state among other projects.
