The All Progressives Congress (APC) Northwest Zonal Executive, led by Hon. Garba Muhammad Babawo, today Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, MON, in his office at Ship House, Abuja.
The delegation, which included key APC Northwest Zonal executives and some state Chairmen from the region, chose to begin their visit with Dr. Matawalle due to his exemplary role as the Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign in the Northwest. His leadership was pivotal in the success of the APC’s campaign, effectively mobilizing widespread support across the region and ensuring that the APC secured victory in what is often regarded as the largest zone in the country.
Dr. Matawalle’s contributions in securing an overwhelming number of votes from the Northwest played a decisive role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election. Given the significance of his efforts, the APC Northwest Zonal Executive deemed it essential to convey their deepest appreciation for his tireless commitment and unparalleled leadership throughout the campaign.
In his remarks, Hon. Garba Muhammad Babawo expressed the unwavering support of the Northwest for President Tinubu’s administration. He acknowledged Dr. Matawalle’s strategic direction, which he noted was vital in ensuring that the Northwest emerged as one of the APC’s strongest pillars during the election. Babawo reaffirmed the region’s commitment to advancing the party’s goals, particularly in supporting President Tinubu’s agenda for national progress.
Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, in turn, graciously thanked the delegation, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective action in achieving political success. He commended the APC leadership in the Northwest for their dedication and hard work, which ultimately helped deliver a resounding victory for the party. In his view, the success of the 2023 election was not the work of any one individual, but a collective achievement driven by the efforts of all APC members across the region.
Dr. Matawalle also underscored the need for continued unity within the party as it seeks to implement its policies and deliver on its promises to the Nigerian people. He stressed that the journey toward lasting national change was just beginning, and maintaining unity would be key to ensuring the successful implementation of the party’s plans for governance, security, and economic development.
