The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has invited Professor Umaru Pate, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Kashere, to join its Board of Trustees.
The invitation, extended by the Centre’s Executive Director, Motunrayo Alaka, recognizes Professor Pate’s role in Nigeria’s media landscape, civic space, and investigative journalism.
In a letter addressed to Professor Pate, Alaka acknowledged his career as a media scholar, development expert, and human rights advocate.
“It is with great pleasure and deep respect that I write on behalf of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), to invite you to join the Board of Trustees of the organisation,” the letter stated. “In choosing you, the Search Committee cited your years of commitment to the growth of Nigeria, its media, and its civic space.”
The WSCIJ, named after Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, is a non-profit organization focused on investigative journalism as a tool for democracy and governance.
