The aura of Statesmanship come as a result of long years of service to the society. Regardless of whether an individual has worked in the public sector or not.
Unequivocally speaking, any compatriot that has gone beyond 5 Decades on the mother earth should, for the sake of posterity, tread with caution in whatever facet of his or her life. This is because at 50 or 60 , No medically induced treatment can restore the original functioning of any organic part of the body.
To have reached such a stage in the life sojourn and continue to engage in unguarded utterances on the ground of political differences calls for a sober reflection.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State His Excellency Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the man l have profound respect for due largely to the veteran status he has enjoyed among thoroughbred unionists across Kano and beyond, is beginning to go berserk, stepping out of tune with his exalted status of the Number 2 citizen in Kano, a privileged position that unmistakably confers on him the power and authority to make and unmake, and above all, the capacity to chart an unprecedented course in the history of Kano.
His Excellency Comrade Aminu Abdussalam was recently seen in a broad daylight remorsefully seeking forgiveness from the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, over his impulsively unsubstantiated allegations. For how long will His Excellency continue to fall victim to his impulsive urge to utter statements that are as subjective as they are painful because they lack accuracy, decorum and reverence for the sanctity of fellow human beings.
In a video that has gone viral, the same Deputy Governor was seen uttering unsavory statement against the personality of Prof. Hafsat Ganduje the wife of Former Governor :
“Jiya jiyannan kafin mu kar6i gwamnati ba za ka kar6i fanshonkaba sai ka kaiwa gwaggon matsiyata wani abu ( meaning:” Just recently before the inception of our Administration a retired civil servants could not receive their pensions when due until Her Excellency collected something through her henchmen). He however added, ” Ka shekara 35 kana aiki gwaggon matsiyata tana tsugune waje daya, tsuguno irin na gwaggon biri (kafira)” (meaning: imagine one spending 35 years in service but unfortunately the Chief Matron of hopeless persons squatting on one spot like a baboon, infidel).
His Excellency should be reminded that he is a rare breed, an uncommon gem and indispensable pillar in the future political trajectory of Kano State. His contemporaries in politics and unionism envy the track record he has established over the years of unrelenting struggle in the face of adversity that has seen his steady rise to ascendancy. It is instructive to note that, Comrade has a teeming multitude of silent admirers that cut across different affiliations and inclinations because of his intellectual substance, verbal articulation, doggedness, fearlessness and charisma as well as administrative acumen.
In spite of our political differences, there is no doubt that, the precepts of our religion and cultural background should take a central stage in whatever endeavor we find ourselves.
It therefore behoves His Excellency Comrade to appreciate the fact that the whole world sees and interprets every single move he makes in the public arena, and Interestingly, extra meanings can be read into his moves. Speaking with absolute caution will do him a world of good. At his age, responding to every direct or subtle provocation should not be part of his personality. In fact, a conspiracy of silence in the face of provocation can drastically raise the bar of his political relevance and followership.
To this end, we urge the State Deputy Governor to retract his utterances and offer a sincere apology to Prof Hafsat Ganduje, her entire family and associates. We also call on the security agencies to take necessary actions to address this unfortunate incident and ensure that public officials maintain the dignity and respect required of their offices. We hope that this unfortunate incident will serve as a reminder and deterrent to public officials to uphold the highest standard of integrity and respect for others irrespective of political affiliations or religious inclinations.
In conclusion, l wish to reiterate it that, His Excellency Comrade Aminu Abdussalam has attained a reputation that will take many of his contemporaries decades to reach or surpass, but continuing to engage in a game of unguarded utterances or name calling some politicians through allusions will cause a serious crack in the political citadel he has built with care, dedication, passion and resilience.
