Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced plans to create a new future for the 12,000 dismissed Hisbah officers through the possible establishment of an independent Hisbah Commission under the Ganduje Foundation.
Ganduje disclosed this while receiving a report from a committee he set up to review the situation of the affected personnel, who were removed from service by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The affected categories include officers from the Hisbah Corps, Hisbah Marshal, and the Advisory Unit.
According to Ganduje, the proposed independent commission will enable the officers to continue carrying out religious, moral, and societal guidance roles.
The committee is chaired by the former Commander of Kano Hisbah Board, Dr. Haruna Ibn Sina, and includes the former Managing Director of KAROTA, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, alongside other senior scholars.
The submitted report provides detailed findings and recommendations on how to revive the activities of the dismissed officers and ensure their long-term engagement and welfare
